Thundercats !, Thundercats !, Thundercats ! Trading cards review

Recently I decided to complete my Cartoon Network Thundercats figure collection. Personally, I liked the show. I do realize that some folks don't but hey to each their own right. As I did my ebay search looking for the elusive 6in Tygra action figure some trading cards popped up of him. I was flabbergasted I did not know they made Thundercats trading cards.

A quick google search later and BAM!
Thundercats trading card box
box contains 24 booster packs
each pack contains 8 randomly inserted cards (7 common cards and 1 foil rare card)
80 card set

$49 a box!!! Wait, what $50? Really? Back to ebay I go. Kruk card 24 packs $9 plus shipping ding ding ding!! Order placed for 48 packs!! 1 week waited! 3 pms. Nothing. 2 weeks waited 3 more pms. Nothing. Call.

Hi, where's my stuff?
WHAHAHHH WHAHHH WHAHHH WHAHHHHH
It will be shipped later this week. Ok.

A week later and they are here!!

Damn you Krukcards!! But hey it's not "their Fault" because they receive them that way. So why should they bother removing those rubber bands off those packs for?

So folks finally the review!!

FOIL CARDS 1-01 - 1-12

By the Power of....

The first 12 cards of the set are foil character cards of the Thundercats. On the back is a Quote for that character. 4 for Lion-o, 2 for Cheetara, 2 for Tygra, 1 for snarf, 1 for the twins, and 2 for Panthro. These were inserted 1 per pack and aren't shiny per say. It more of a flattened shine foil effect behind the character shown on the front.  So not the greatest "foil" effect. I was able to complete almost 2 sets of 12. Just missing an extra #4.

1 complete 12 cards "set"  35 extras ( I know that doesn't add up to 48 no idea what happened to that missing foil)

One thing I want to point out. These cards are numbered 1-xx. When I first saw them I thought they said 101 and so forth. I was all freaked out thinking I missed out on 100 freaking cards. After my wife told me to put on my bifocals I saw the - on the cards. Also, there is no checklist.

Character Collection 1-13 - 1-25

More character cards that show the villains and supporting cast of the show. Mumm-ra, of course, has 2 cards to show him in both forms. The artwork on these are a mixture of the show and a painted style. I only wish they would have given Mumm-ra a foil effect as well.

Vehicle Collection 1 card

Yep 1 card. The Thundertank. Just the stinking Thundertank. Not much to say here.

Art Collection 1-27 - 1-31

Artwork cards of the different Thundercats here. Personally, I like the art on the back more than the art on the front of the card.

Scene Collection 1-32 - 1-64

A collection of scenes from Episode 1 through Episode 5. The cards tell the main story of each episode to help us understand what is going on with the new series. I do have to say considering the series is available in Hd the scenes art looks very much vhs quality.

Why is that kid always yelling?

Puzzle cards 1-65 -1-80

4 mini puzzles consisting of 4 cards. The scenes are pretty cool but I have alway wondered why these cards are not put in an order that would complete the puzzle when placed in numbered order in 9 card sheets.

What happened to Panthro's Face?!?!

My Favorite of the Puzzles

Overall

I like these cards. They were a cool item to add to my Thundercats collection once I got them. The foil cards are coolish. If anything I wish they would have added some inserts like glow in the dark or maybe some autos from the voice actors. The whole no checklist thing was a little odd. I kept thinking I hadn't completed the set until I looked up the info online. I am glad I purchased the 48 packs between the damage caused by the seller and the 1 per pack foils I wouldn't have completed the set with just 24 packs. I actually had help from a fellow Thundercats collector Rory W. to complete 1 set. Luckily he also has the missing card for my second set. So building this set is not an easy thing. I would have been upset not building a set with a $50 box. I recommend any Thundercats collector to get this set. Now what to do with all these extras.

Now back to your regularly scheduled program.
